The Money Mark Vinyl Killer was released in Japan in 1998 as part of the Maybe I'm Dead blue vinyl promo to promote Money Mark's Push The Button album which released in Japan in April 1998.<ref>https://www.discogs.com/Money-Mark-Push-The-Button/release/10315755</ref> The exact date of this promo's release is unknown, but an English Mo' Wax test pressing was created in April 1998<ref>https://www.discogs.com/Money-Mark-Maybe-Im-Dead/release/11455724</ref> so presumably the Japanese edition was released afterwards.

The packaging included stickers and a blue box for the vinyl killer, alongside the blue vinyl record. The illustrations on the box were created by Teppel Makl, while the vinyl killer was produced by Vacuum Records in Japan.<ref>https://www.discogs.com/Money-Mark-Maybe-Im-Dead/release/1167484</ref>

Reportedly only 500 of the Money Mark vinyl killers were made, with only 75 of the Maybe I'm Dead promo's created by Mo' Wax Japan and Toy's Factory.<ref>https://www.popsike.com/Money-Mark-Mo-Wax-blue-12-Vacuum-Vinyl-Killer-promo/220713383896.html</ref>

Beastiemania describes the Vinyl Killer itself as "A small Volkswagen van that drives around on your records and plays them. Yep it's true! They are one of the coolest inventions to come out of Japan. All it needs is a 9 volt battery (the small square ones). You place the van on your record and the stylus (record needle) on the bottom picks up the sound and plays it through the speaker on the roof. The dimensions are approximately 4.5" (11cm) long, 2" (5cm) wide and 2.5" (6cm) high. They only drive at the one speed (33 RPM) so you can't use it on your 45's. As the name suggests, they're not the best for your records so don't use it to play your mint copy of Pollywog Stew - grab an old disco record instead."<ref>https://www.beastiemania.com/qa/moneymarktoys.php</ref>
