Mo' Wax Merchandise 1994-1997

The original Mo' Wax Merchandise range was created and sold by Swifty, and included three t-shirts and a record bag. Also available were Swifty and Straight No Chaser t-shirts. These were all advertised for sale in Straight No Chaser Magazine[1]. The t-shirts sold for 16 pounds, and were available through mail order[2].

In 1996 a new MoWax Merchandise Catalogue was released, featuring four new designs by Will Bankhead and Ben Drury, a new record bag design and a slipmat (not pictured). Each includes a MWM (MoWax Merchandise) catalogue number, eg. MWM001T for the first t-shirt design.[3]

The box design also featured on the Faces Z compilation which was released in 1996, and its design is credited to Ben Drury.[4]

Another design was also available and has the catalogue number of MWMT001[5], this design is undated and features a tag with the following text: "Screen Stars by Fruit of the Loom, Printed in USA."[6] A white version and dark blue version appear to have been released,[7] with an eBay listing for the dark version claiming the user received it as a promo from Mo' Wax in the 1990's and that it was never on sale to the public.[8]

Two versions of the white t-shirt have appeared online with the same designs but slightly different tags. Both tags mention Screen Stars as the creator.[9][10] For clearer versions of the tags as featured on other t-shirts, see Minor Thread on Flickr.[11][12]

Fruit of the Loom was a USA based T-shirt company which operated during the 1980's and 1990's.[13]

In 1998 Mo' Wax signed a new partnership with XL Records/Beggars Group, and new merchandise was produced. T-shirts here don't have a specific date, and while they are presumed to have been produced between 1998-2003 this hasn't been confirmed. Some of these t-shirts were released in bags with a MWT logo. Some of the t-shirts were restocked in 2004 via the Mo' Wax Mailorder website, including "MWT 001 - Mo'Wax Clockwork Orange", "MWT 002 - Mo'Wax Multi-Color", "MWT 003 - Mo'Wax Japanese", and "MWT 004 - Mo'Wax Block", with each available for £13 online and each order also came with a Mo' Wax bag. Unfortunately some of the images are no longer available, and it's unclear if the "wire logo" t-shirt is MWT 002, or another design, while there don't appear to be any images of MWT 003.
