Bearbrick

Bearbrick (rendered Be@rbrick) is a collectible toy which are designed and produced by the Japanese company MediCom Toy Incorporated. They were first released in 2001 and are highly saught out by fans.[1] Since 2003 MediCom have partnered with James Lavelle and UNKLE on several occasions to create various Bearbrick X UNKLE designs. As well as Bearbrick's, MediCom is responsible for the Kubrick series of toys as well. For UNKLE X Kubrick collaborations see: Kubrick.

The Unkle - Secret Pattern Be@rbrick Series 6 was the first Unkle X Bearbrick collaboration, and was released in May 2003.[2]

The figure is clear, with a camouflage pattern, and a silver circular feature on the front.[3]

The Unkle Bearbrick was not advertised along with the rest of the series released at the time, and so is known as a 'Secret' design. Because Bearbricks are sold in a closed box, known as a 'blind box', you don't know which design you will receive until you have opened it. You have a 1/192 chance of recieving the Unkle design.[4]

The copyright on the figure states 2004 as it was created for the Be@rbrick World Wide Tour in Osaka (held from 2 to 17 October 2004)[5], but the figure was not shipped until Febuary 2005[6]

The figure is approximately 280mm tall, and features a tattoo like designs across its arms and back[7] on top of a blue and white camouflage design. The same blue and white design was used on the UNKLE X KUBRICK 1000％ UNKLE released in the same year.

Similar to the 400% design, this Unkle Bearbrick was shipped in Febuary 2005[8], and features a similar design to the 400% also.

While the 400% could be purchased on its own, the 100% was made available in a set of 10 Bearbrick figures[9].

The set was sold for ¥ 8,190 (tax included)[10].

Released June 22nd 2005 at the Surrender Store, the SURRENDER BE@BRICK features a design based on the SURRENDER Skull Hoodie, an item from the label's first collection featuring a Skull Design by Alan Forbes.[11]

The figure is painted with a thermo coating so when the figure is exposed to light the design changes to reveal a different design underneath the black[12][13]

The 100% sized figure is 70mm tall, while the 400% figure is 280mm. The set were originally sold for ￥7,140 (tax included).[14]

The 2010 BE＠RBRICK UNKLE collaboration came in both a clear and green camouflage design as a 100% size figure, with the clear design also available as a 400% figure.[15]

The 100% was originally cost ¥ 1,575 (tax included), while the 400% size was sold for ¥ 7,140 (tax included).[16]

Each Bearbrick features the same tattoo like designs seen previously on the WORLD WIDE TOUR BE@RBRICK UNKLE 400% figure.

The 2015 collaboration was available in 100% and 400% sizes, both with white on black designs, though with slightly different finishes between the sizes.[17][18]

Order were open between October 24 2014 - November 10 2014, with figures shipping in March 2015. The original prices were ¥1,620 (tax included) for the 100% figure, and ¥8,424 (tax included) for the 400%[19].
